The Sao Paulo Brazil Temple a significant landmark for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil was completed in 1978. However a government ban on non-Portuguese languages in public meetings in 1938 forced the church to expand its outreach to Portuguese speakers.
