Established in 1911 Adachi Ward’s Higashifuchie Elementary School boasts a rich history. It initially operated as a combined school. The original buildings housed both Nakamigase Elementary and Mimigase Elementary schools. In 1911 it opened its doors to 294 students. The school expanded in 1920 adding a higher grade section. This was renamed Higashifuchie Higher Elementary School. A new school building was constructed in 1924. Higashifuchie Elementary School moved to its current location that year. The school served as a national school during World War II. After the war in 1947 it was reorganized as Adachi Ward’s Higashifuchie Elementary School. Post-war growth in Adachi led to increased student numbers. In 1950 the school had 1528 students. By 1993 enrollment reached 809. Today Higashifuchie Elementary stands as a testament to Adachi’s evolution. It continues to shape young minds. The school’s anniversary is celebrated on November 15th each year. This commemorates the completion of the current school building in 1914. Think of all the generations of students who have passed through these very gates.
