Nestled in the heart of Machida City, stands the Machida Shiritsu Kasugawa Daiyon Elementary School. Do you hear the echoes of children’s laughter? Those are the ghosts of generations past, playing in the very spot where we stand. Machida Shiritsu Kasugawa Daiyon Elementary School opened its doors on April 1, 1971. It has been a cornerstone of the community ever since. The school isn’t just a place of learning. It’s a living testament to the city’s commitment to education and the growth of its young minds. Did you know that within these walls, there’s a special support class for children with intellectual disabilities? This inclusive approach reflects the school’s dedication to nurturing every student’s potential. In 1999, a small-scale elderly welfare facility, “Day Service Kasugawa,” was established within the school grounds. This unique coexistence of young and old fosters a sense of intergenerational connection. It enriches the lives of both students and seniors. Machida Shiritsu Kasugawa Daiyon Elementary School also played a part in a city-wide initiative in 2015. Security cameras were installed along school routes to ensure the safety of children. This commitment to student well-being extends beyond the classroom. It reaches into the very fabric of the community. Sadly, due to declining birth rates and aging school facilities, Machida Shiritsu Kasugawa Daiyon Elementary School will be consolidated with the nearby Kasugawa Daisan Elementary School in 2026. A new school will be built on the current site, opening its doors in 2029. This marks a new chapter in the school’s history. But the memories and legacy of Machida Shiritsu Kasugawa Daiyon Elementary School will live on.
