In 1984, a new chapter began in Machida. The Machida City Koyamada Minami Elementary School opened its doors. The school’s official opening ceremony, a pivotal moment in its history, took place on May 30th, 1984. Machida City Koyamada Minami Elementary School isn’t just a place of learning. The school even houses a Sakura no Mori Hoiku Childcare Club within its grounds, further strengthening its role as a community cornerstone. In 2024, Machida City Koyamada Minami Elementary School boasted 21 classes, including a special needs support class. Over 500 students filled the classrooms, their energy and curiosity breathing life into the school’s motto. Machida City Koyamada Minami Elementary School has a rich history. The school song, composed by Ishii Kyo, resonates with the spirit of the school. This song, adopted in 1985, embodies the dreams and aspirations of generations of students. Looking ahead, Machida City Koyamada Minami Elementary School is preparing for a significant transition. As part of Machida City’s school consolidation plan, the school is slated to merge with part of Machida City Koyamada Elementary School by 2031. This new unified school, planned for the current site of Koyamada Minami Elementary, will continue the legacy of education and community. The school is easily accessible by bus from Machida Station and Sagamiono Station. A short five-minute walk from Koyamada Sakuradai bus stop brings you right to the school’s entrance.
