Welcome to the Shenzhen Cultural Center. It includes the Shenzhen Concert Hall and the Shenzhen Library. This is a place of culture and gathering. It stands in the Futian district of Shenzhen in Guangdong.
Arata Isozaki a Japanese architect designed it. The vineyard-style concert hall seats 1800 people. It opened in 2007. The Shenzhen Cultural Center is adjacent to the Shenzhen Library. It is near the Shenzhen Civic Center. Children’s Palace line 3 subway station is also close. This is one of two main concert venues in Shenzhen. The other is Nanshan Cultural Center.
The New Shenzhen Cultural Center will be innovative. It will be a civic culture and arts training base. It will be a civic experience and exhibition center. Expect a multi-category cultural and arts exchange camp. This will be an inter-city cultural exchange and gathering spot. It serves the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The Belt and Road International Music Festival was inaugurated at the Shenzhen Concert Hall in 2019. During the three-week festival many music concerts were held. Courtyards corridors and halls are developed in sequence. The overall design echoes the climate and spatial culture. Large trees in the courtyard provide a transitional space. This space has shading ventilation and lighting. The new cultural center becomes a model of urban public space.
Six buildings have unique architectural forms. They connect inside corridors with the outside street. Natural grassland sits on a green platform. The building utilizes voids to organize programs. Circulation connects the upper and lower spaces. This forms a three-dimensional space system. The green platform connects stone buildings. It provides an oasis view of the high-rise city.
