In 1988 a lunchroom was completed. A decade later in 1991 the school celebrated its 10th anniversary. A small breeding house and storage were also completed.

School districts changed in 1994. 120 children transferred from the Fourth Kasai Elementary School and Minami-Kasai Elementary School. Minami-Kasai 2-chome and 6-chome were added to the school district. Higashi-Kasai 8-chome and 9-chome were included too.

In 2007 additional school buildings were completed. These included a second music room and a library. The school marked its 30th anniversary in 2012. In 2014 an encouraging room was established. It is a space for quiet learning.

江戸川区立南葛西第二小学校 was designated a practical research promotion school for educational topics. This was related to the management of the encouraging room. It was also designated an Olympic and Paralympic education promotion school in 2015. Air conditioning was installed in the gymnasium in 2020.

In 2021 the school gate was renovated. 江戸川区立南葛西第二小学校 celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022.
