\u6b63\u884c\u5bfa was founded in 1604. A monk named Nensho Doyo established it. Tokugawa Ieyasu visited Kawagoe for hawk hunting. He stayed at Renkei-ji Temple. Nensho Doyo answered Ieyasu’s questions about Jodo Shinshu Buddhism. Ieyasu was impressed. He allowed Nensho Doyo to build a temple in Yushima. This was the beginning of \u6b63\u884c\u5bfa.

The temple moved to its current location in 1683. \u6b63\u884c\u5bfa survived the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923. Sadly, it burned down in the Tokyo air raids of 1945.
