Established in 1961, Higashimurayama Municipal Higashimurayama Third Junior High School has witnessed the city’s transformation. Imagine young students bustling through its halls in 1962, the year of the school’s opening ceremony. The very air vibrated with the excitement of a fresh start. Higashimurayama Third Junior High School became a cornerstone of the community. The school song, composed just a year later, echoed the aspirations of a growing city. In 1964, reflecting Higashimurayama’s elevation to city status, the school’s name officially changed to Higashimurayama Municipal Higashimurayama Third Junior High School. This marked a significant moment for both the school and the city. Over the years, Higashimurayama Third Junior High School expanded. A gymnasium was completed in 1965, and a pool followed in 1966. By 1967, a four-story reinforced concrete school building stood proudly on the campus. The school continued to evolve, establishing a new junior high school branch in 2001, known as the Okurayama branch. In 2003, the Midorino field grade was introduced, further enhancing the educational opportunities for students. Most recently, in 2019, a special support classroom called “ARCH” opened, demonstrating the school’s commitment to inclusive education. Higashimurayama Third Junior High School stands as a testament to Higashimurayama’s growth and its dedication to education.
