“Exceptional education.” That’s the motto here at the College of Mechatronics and Control Engineering. Or CMCE as it is commonly known.
Welcome to the Shenzhen University’s College of Mechatronics and Control Engineering. This college evolved from the Department of Precision Instrument. It was founded in 1984 with Tsinghua University’s support.
CMCE provides an exceptional education. It combines knowledge attainment and application. This prepares future engineers. They gain a broad horizon. They develop solid practical skills. They foster an innovative spirit.
CMCE houses two departments. These are the Department of Mechatronic Engineering. The other is the Department of Control Engineering. Nearly 90 faculty members are here. This includes 21 full professors and 24 associate professors. Over 60% of the faculty studied or worked overseas.
CMCE offers two undergraduate programs. One is in Mechanical Design Manufacture and Automation. The other is Automation. Over 1200 students enroll. There are three master’s degree programs. These are Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, and Transportation Engineering. CMCE also has a second-tier discipline PhD program. It is in Optomechatronics Engineering. The total graduate enrollment is about 600 students.
Students in Mechatronic Engineering must complete at least 142 credits. Students in Control Engineering need at least 140 credits.
Core courses for Mechatronic Engineering include Engineering Drawing. Also Mechanics, Mechanical Theory. Design & Manufacturing too. Engineering Materials are key. Electrical and Electronic Technology follows. CNC Technology is important. As well as Forming Process and CAD/CAM. Finally, Finite Element Method.
