Can you hear the echoes of history? Here at Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School, the whispers of the past intertwine with the laughter of today’s students. Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of this community. It’s a place where generations have learned and grown. The very ground we stand on was once home to the Yamaguchi clan, warriors who built their stronghold here during the medieval period. The 柳瀬川 River flowed nearby, providing life-sustaining water. This area has been a hub of human activity since ancient times.

Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School wasn’t always a single entity. During the Edo period, eleven villages clustered around this area, including names like Sekiguchi, Yaguchi, and Osumi. These villages eventually merged. In 1843, they became three distinct villages: Yamaguchi, Kamiyamaguchi, and Shukutsuji. It wasn’t until 1884 that they finally united under the single name of “Yamaguchi.” The names of the original villages live on as districts within the city. This rich history is woven into the fabric of Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School.

Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School opened its doors in 1955. The school initially used temporary facilities at the Sayama Lake athletic field. It marked the end of a long period of school construction in the city. The permanent structure of Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School was completed in 1965. Since then, it has undergone several renovations and expansions, including a new gymnasium in 1967, additional classrooms in 1969 and 1971, and a pool in 1975. More recent renovations include a new gymnasium in 2015 and large-scale renovations in 2017 and 2018. Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School continues to evolve. It meets the needs of each new generation. The spirit of the Yamaguchi clan, the resilience of those eleven villages, it all resonates within these walls. Tokorozawa Municipal Yamaguchi Junior High School isn’t just a school. It is a living embodiment of history, a place where the past informs the future.
