Originally, it was known as Teikyo Women’s Junior College, established in Itabashi Ward with a single department: English. The college relocated to Hachioji in 1974. It expanded its offerings in 1984 with the addition of a Secretarial Science Department. A significant transformation occurred in 1998. The college was renamed Teikyo University Junior College, opening its doors to male students. In 1999, the departments were renamed: English became International Communication, and Secretarial Science evolved into Information Business. Another renaming took place in 2006, changing Information Business to Contemporary Business, and International Communication to Human Cultures. Today, Teikyo University Junior College offers two distinct paths: Human Cultures and Modern Business. Human Cultures focuses on humanities and English language proficiency. It also prepares students for transfer to four-year universities, particularly Teikyo University’s Faculties of Liberal Arts, Language Studies, and Education. The program also allows students to participate in Teikyo University’s open curriculum, offering a taste of specialized courses in economics, law and more.
