Established in 2003, the Hachioji City Nanakuni Junior High School has a unique story to tell. The school grounds, once home to the Minami-Hachioji District No. 39 archaeological site, now buzz with the energy of young minds. Imagine, before the school was built, ancient pottery and stone tools lay buried here, whispering tales of bygone eras. The land, once known as Kajibara, was transformed as part of the Minami-Hachioji Land Readjustment Project. This project also gave rise to the nearby Minami-Hachioji Junior High School. Hachioji City Nanakuni Junior High School stands as a beacon of hope, embodying the city’s commitment to education. The school’s motto emphasizes nurturing well-rounded individuals who contribute to society. The school’s curriculum aligns with Hachioji City’s broader educational goals, fostering a seamless nine-year educational journey from elementary through junior high. Hachioji City Nanakuni Junior High School has seen several principals shape its path. The first principal, Hiroshi Fujiki, served from 2003 to 2007, laying the foundation for the school’s future. He oversaw the school’s opening ceremony and first entrance ceremony in April 2003. Later that year, in December, the school song, penned by Chiyoko Toyohara and composed by Osamu Machida, was officially adopted. Look at this remarkable building. The school’s unique pirotti-style entranceway welcomes students and visitors alike. The three-story structure, nestled on a sloping site, features a two-story entrance area at the higher north end. Atop the school building, solar panels gleam in the sun, silently generating power. Inside, a multi-purpose hall, once the heart of school assemblies due to smaller initial class sizes, now serves a variety of functions. Specialized rooms for home economics, woodworking, metalworking, art, music, science, and even a counseling room where a counselor visits regularly, provide students with a rich learning environment. The schoolyard boasts a soccer field and a sand-covered running track encircling it. Beyond academics, Hachioji City Nanakuni Junior High School thrives with extracurricular activities. From baseball and soccer to cross-country and badminton, students explore their passions. Cultural clubs like the brass band, art club, and tea ceremony club offer creative outlets.
