Gazing up at the towering two-story structure, have you ever wondered about the secrets held within 市川PA? This isn’t just any rest stop. 市川PA, opened on April 24th, marks a new chapter in the history of highway rest areas. Located on the downbound lanes of the Keiyo Road, just after the Urayasu Bridge, 市川PA is easily accessible from Tokyo. It’s the first rest area you’ll encounter when entering the Keiyo Road from the capital. While the building itself stands on the upper side of the highway, remember that 市川PA’s facilities are exclusively for those traveling downbound. To reach it from Ichikawa, exit briefly and then re-enter the highway, turning left onto the slope leading up to the parking area. Although a relatively new establishment, 市川PA evokes a sense of familiarity, reminiscent of older rest stops like the Kisarazu PA. The building’s two levels house a Yamazaki Daily store upstairs and a Matsuya (beef bowl) restaurant and restroom facilities downstairs. The Daily store proudly offers a rich selection of local pear-flavored menus, sourced directly from the Yamazaki Pan Matsudo factory. They claim it’s a perfect souvenir for those visiting Chiba prefecture. And speaking of pears, another tip: 市川PA boasts a wider array of pear menus compared to Michi-no-Eki Ichikawa. It’s a haven for pear lovers. Downstairs, Matsuya serves standard fare, but the real highlight is the spacious waiting area, designed for relaxation. Modern, clean, and bright, 市川PA isn’t one of those sprawling, themed rest areas like Haiseiko or Sakuhaya Highway Oasis. It focuses on providing essential amenities and local flavors. While Michi-no-Eki Ichikawa offers various local products, 市川PA stands out with its exclusive pear treats. After your stop at 市川PA, consider a detour to Makuhari. But for now, grab a pear-flavored snack and enjoy the clean, refreshing atmosphere of 市川PA.
