Established in 1959 the Ichikawa Municipal Sixth Junior High School stands proudly. It opened its doors using part of the old Shishibone Elementary School building. This wasn’t just any school. It was a beacon of learning for the community. Generations of students have walked these halls. The school’s history is rich with milestones. In 1962 the school song was written. The lyrics were penned by Mr. Kyosuke Hirata. The music was composed by Mr. Heisuke Sugai.
Ten years later in 1969 the school celebrated its tenth anniversary. A commemorative stone a commemorative tree and a commemorative book were created. This wasn’t just about marking time. It was about building a legacy. The school expanded in 1973 adding six classrooms and a science lab. This showed a growing community needing more space. It reflected the increasing number of students.
Twenty years after its founding in 1979 the school held another commemorative event. This time it included a commemorative speech and another commemorative book. These celebrations showcased the school’s importance. They reflected the community’s pride in its achievements. In 1980 a significant change occurred. Part of the school was transferred to the Ichikawa Municipal Koka Junior High School. 201 students were affected by the change. The school continued to grow.
A new school building was completed in 1985. A new gymnasium followed in 1986. These improvements enhanced the learning environment. The school’s thirtieth anniversary in 1989 was another important moment. A commemorative ceremony was held. A commemorative display was created. The fortieth anniversary in 1999 followed a similar format. In 2001 the entire school underwent a renovation. A new bell tower and external improvements were made.
The school’s music club has earned prestigious awards. In 2004 they won the TBS All-Japan Music Contest. The club also won another award in 2009. Another award was won in 2015 at the All-Japan School Chorus Contest. This win demonstrated talent and dedication. The school continues to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities.
