Why is Fujimi Bridge the westernmost bridge on the Higashiyunkohgawa River? We’re standing here, at the edge of Koto City, before the Fujimi Bridge. It officially opened on March 2nd, 2014. This bridge has a fascinating story. It’s not just a convenient crossing over the Higashiyunkohgawa River. Fujimi Bridge also embodies a modern engineering marvel, a three-span continuous steel-bed box girder bridge. Its construction began on July 24th, 2006, and took several years to complete. The bridge spans an impressive 213 meters in length and 25.8 meters in width. Imagine the amount of steel and concrete required for such a massive structure. Fujimi Bridge is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Plan Road Auxiliary Route No. 315, also known as Tokyo Metropolitan Road No. 484. This route plays a crucial role in connecting the districts of Toyosu and Ariake. Now, here’s a little trivia for you. This Fujimi Bridge is the westernmost bridge on the Higashiyunkohgawa River. Upstream, you’ll find the Higashiyunkoh Bridge, followed by the Kigorizori Bridge and the Ariake-Kita Bridge. Downstream, however, there are no more bridges spanning this particular section of the river. This makes Fujimi Bridge a unique landmark in the network of bridges across Tokyo.
