Daigyo-ji’s story begins in 1611.観Chogetsu-in founded it. She was the wet nurse of the second shogun Hidetada Tokugawa.
Daigyo-ji once had large temple buildings. It also boasted Benten Shrine and Jizo Hall on its grounds. It flourished. After the Meiji Restoration it declined.
