Here, on this spot stands the Tamagawa Christian Church. It is more than just a building. It is a story etched in time.
Tamagawa Christian Church’s history began in June 1963. H.J. রাইট宣教師 founded the church. It was initially known as the Nishiseigaya preaching place. This took place in Kidadami.
In 1964, it became Tamagawa Baptist Church. It joined a league and was later renamed Tamagawa Christian Church. In 1965, the church moved to its current location. A new church hall was built.
Tamagawa Christian Church became incorporated in 1976. In 1985, the church opened the Kofu South preaching place. A new church hall was dedicated in 2005.
Many pastors have guided this church. From 1963 to 1970, H.J. রাইট served. From 1968 to 1974,唯信 Otani led. 光二 Iwanaga followed from 1974 to 1978. Tatsushi Akezawa served from 1978 to 1995. Yoshio Sano was pastor from 1995 to 2004. Hiromitsu Noguchi led from 2004 to 2014. Currently, Sakurako Suemori has been the pastor since 2014.
Sakurako Suemori’s journey is also interwoven with the Tamagawa Christian Church. Born in Kawasaki City in 1979, she was baptized here in 1987. Tatsushi Akezawa performed the ceremony. She graduated from Bunka Gakuin High School in 1998. In 1999, she volunteered in Ireland. She taught Japanese culture in an elementary school.
In 2000, she studied architecture in France. She entered Tokyo Baptist Seminary in 2010. She graduated in 2013 and continued her studies. On June 15, 2014, she became pastor of Tamagawa Christian Church.
The Tamagawa Christian Church observes safety measures. During gatherings, hygiene management is practiced. Infection prevention measures are followed. Everyone gets temperature checks. Finger disinfection is required. Live broadcasts of morning services are available. This ensures those unwell can participate remotely.
The church also offers Sunday school classes. These classes are divided by age. They use textbooks to teach the Bible. The Tamagawa Christian Church follows Tokyo Metropolitan Government guidelines. This ensures a safe environment for all.
