“Is this where the river tells its story?” someone once whispered. Right here stands the \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928. It is an information hub about the Tama River.
The \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928} is more than just a museum. It is a base for the Tama River Museum TRM activities. It acts as an information center. It helps you learn all about the river.
Inside the \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928, find a mini aquarium. See fish that swim in the Tama River. Use computers to explore river environment data. Admire a model of the Shukugawara Yosui embankment.
Look down. The floor shows an aerial photo of the Tama River. It stretches 138 km from source to mouth. The \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928 uses its space well.
This building is part of the “Tama River Eco Museum Plan”. Kawasaki City and the NPO Tama River Eco Museum manage it together. Since opening in March 1999, it has welcomed over 25,000 visitors every year. By March 2011, over 280,000 people had visited. The NPO manages the \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928. It plans and runs community events.
The \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928 also has a meeting room. Pre-registered groups can use it. These groups must promote the Tama River Eco Museum Plan. They should also back the Kawasaki New Tama River Plan.
Outside the \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928, disaster prevention equipment is stored. This is part of the government’s flood control measures.
Getting here is easy. Take the JR Nambu Line or the Odakyu Line. Get off at Noborito Station. Walk eight minutes. Or, get off at Shukugawara Station. Walk fifteen minutes.
Note that there is no parking. It is best not to come by car.
The \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928 is open from 10 AM to 4 PM. From May to August, it opens earlier. On weekends and holidays, it opens at 9 AM.
It is closed Mondays. If Monday is a holiday, it closes the next day. It is also closed the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The \u4e8c\u30f6\u9818\u305b\u305b\u3089\u304e\u9928 is closed from December 29 to January 3.
