This institution, once known as Daito Gakuen College, dedicated itself to nurturing professionals in the field of social welfare. It offered various courses, including Care Work, Sign Language Interpretation, and even music-related programs in its earlier days. The college, established in 1984, evolved over the years, adapting to the changing needs of society. It even achieved recognition from the Ministry of Education for its specialized practical training programs. However, like a story reaching its final chapter, Setagaya Welfare Professional Training College closed its doors in March 2023. The closure wasn’t sudden. The college gradually phased out departments. It stopped recruiting students for certain programs years prior, like the Care Work program in 2021. The last remaining students graduated, leaving behind a legacy of trained professionals who continue to serve the community. The campus itself, located in Setagaya, Tokyo, stands as a quiet testament to the college’s history. Imagine bustling classrooms filled with aspiring care workers and sign language interpreters. The energy of students learning, practicing, and growing. The college once offered a unique learning experience, combining essential knowledge with practical skills and a focus on welfare. Field trips and volunteer activities provided real-world experience, further enriching their education. Even after its closure, the spirit of Setagaya Welfare Professional Training College lives on. The campus building, affectionately dubbed the “Setafuku Campus,” is now utilized by Daito Gakuen High School. It houses training rooms, practice rooms, and specialized classrooms, continuing to serve the educational needs of the community in a new way.
