In the year 1981, the Daiei Tokorozawa store opened its doors. This marked the beginning of what would become TOCOTOCO SQUARE. But the journey wasn’t smooth. Seibu Group and the landowner, Tohoku, fiercely resisted Daiei’s arrival. They even built employee housing on the proposed site to deter Daiei. Daiei was forced to reduce the store size and delay the opening. Despite these challenges, Daiei persevered.

Fast forward to 2016. The store transitioned to Aeon Retail. The branding changed to Aeon. Then in 2019, the store closed, leaving behind a legacy. But from the ashes of the old Aeon store, TOCOTOCO SQUARE arose. The remaining tenants like Yamada Denki and some new ones, like Seria and MrMax, formed the core of this revitalized space. The space now boasts 42 shops across seven levels, including one underground level. TOCOTOCO SQUARE, as it’s known today, stands as a testament to change and adaptation.

TOCOTOCO SQUARE offers a variety of shops and services. From fashion and accessories to electronics and home goods, there’s something for everyone. You can grab a quick bite at one of the many restaurants or relax at a cafe. TOCOTOCO SQUARE is a popular spot for families and locals. The name itself, TOCOTOCO, evokes a sense of community. It implies a place where people come together, interact, and share experiences.

TOCOTOCO SQUARE is more than just a shopping center. It’s a community hub. It’s a place where people connect with each other. The diverse range of shops and services caters to a wide range of needs. It’s a place to shop, dine, and simply relax. The next time you find yourself in Tokorozawa, consider visiting TOCOTOCO SQUARE. Experience the unique blend of old and new, tradition and modernity.
