This Protestant church, nestled in the heart of Tokyo, has a story as unique as its name. シオンの群れの森の上キリスト教会 began its journey in 1987. It started as a small bible study group in the Morinoue area. The name “Morinoue,” meaning “above the forest,” became deeply intertwined with the church’s identity. As the congregation grew, they needed a larger space. They renovated a house in Midoricho to create their first sanctuary in 1992. However, city planning required them to relocate once again. They built a new church in the present-day Tanakamachi location. In 2020, Pastor Pak Chun Pun, a pastor with a diverse background, joined シオンの群れの森の上キリスト教会. He had studied at Tokyo Baptist University, the Reformed Theological Seminary in Korea, and served as a pastor with the Japan Conservative Baptist Association. He had also ministered in Kyushu for three years before taking the helm here. This vibrant church is not just a place of worship, but also a place for community. It is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and focus on Bible study, prayer, and gospel music.
