Welcome to the Catholic Seijo Church. This church stands as a beacon of faith. It is a welcoming space for all. People of all nationalities are welcome here. The church provides quiet moments for prayer.

Throughout the year many events occur here. These events foster friendship. They deepen understanding. They explore Christ’s saving grace. Though mass is in Japanese assistance is available. Someone can help those who do not speak Japanese. Father Ryotaro Thomas Aq. Yamamoto is the pastor.

The current sanctuary was designed by Kaneji Imai. He was a professor at Waseda University. There was an attempt to designate it as a cultural property. This was to commemorate the 50th anniversary. But the Catholic Archdiocese of Tokyo declined the designation.

Several important buildings stand on these grounds. Valuable artworks adorn the space. The Catholic Seijo Church has about 2000 members. Various activities take place here. It is conveniently located.

In January 1977 preparations began for a new building. Fundraising started. The old rectory shifted south. On that spot Taisei Corporation built a new hall. The hall finished in October 1978. Bishop Shirayanagi presided over the dedication.

In April 1984 a special committee formed. They would rebuild the rectory. The old rectory was removed. The grounds were prepared. Maruichi Construction managed the project. It concluded in November of the same year.

The Catholic Seijo Church strives to be inclusive. It offers facilities for the elderly. It also provides for those with disabilities. The aim is to create a welcoming place. This is for everyone from children to the elderly. In 1999 the parish hall added wheelchair accessible toilets. An elevator was also added.

The Catholic Seijo Church is located in Setagaya-ku Tokyo. Its members come mainly from western Setagaya-ku. People from Chofu City and Kawasaki City also attend.

Note that parking is limited. The church encourages public transport use. Parking is prohibited Sundays from 9 am to 12 pm. Contact the church beforehand if you need to drive. This is to confirm parking availability.

As we conclude our visit consider this. The Catholic Seijo Church began small. It has grown into a vibrant community. It continues to evolve while offering solace and spiritual growth. It welcomes everyone.
