In 1913, Keyaki Elementary School embarked on its educational journey. Originally known as Nishihara Second Elementary School, it stood proudly within its old school building. Keyaki Elementary quickly blossomed. By 1914, the school had crafted its unique song, established its official school emblem, and celebrated its first graduation ceremony. The year 1915 brought significant change. The school moved to a brand-new building and marked the completion with a grand ceremony in 1916. The school’s song gained official recognition in 1917, solidifying its identity. Leadership transitioned in 1920 with the appointment of the third principal, Mr. Kaneko Gaisha. Keyaki Elementary continued to evolve, gaining recognition in 1920 as a designated research school by the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education. Its ninth graduation ceremony in 1921 marked another milestone. The school’s tenth graduation ceremony took place in 1922. It was designated a research school by Nishi Tokyo City in the same year. Keyaki Elementary held its eleventh graduation ceremony in 1923. The school welcomed its fourth principal, Mr. Tanemura Akitsugu, in 1924, and was designated a model school for the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education’s OJT program. The twelfth graduation ceremony happened in 1925. Subsequent graduation ceremonies followed in 1926 and 1927. In 1928, Keyaki Elementary saw its fifteenth graduation and welcomed its fifth principal, Mr. Takabashi Yasu. The school was designated a research center for collaborative education between elementary and junior high schools by Nishi Tokyo City. The sixteenth graduation took place in 1929. Keyaki Elementary presented its research findings at the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education’s designated research school conference in 1930, culminating in the seventeenth graduation ceremony. The eighteenth graduation was held in 1931. In 1933, Mr. Kuroiwa Tsugio became the sixth principal. A special needs support classroom, the “S Classroom,” opened its doors in 1935. Keyaki Elementary School celebrated its 20th anniversary with a commemorative ceremony in 1934. The school welcomed its seventh principal, Mr. Isoji Makoto, in 1936. This marks a brief journey through the rich history of Keyaki Elementary School, a testament to its enduring commitment to education.
