It’s one of the older Synagogues in this area, and it’s a beautiful example of the Bauhaus style of architecture that is so common here in Tel Aviv, and that you’ll see a lot more of during this tour.
The Mishkan Ha’R’al is known for its beautiful stained glass windows and its high ceilings. The windows depict scenes from the Bible. In the synagogue’s yard there is a beautiful tree. This tree is very old. It was planted when the synagogue was built. It’s a kind of ‘sycamore fig’ tree. This specific type of tree is common in the Middle East and is mentioned in the Bible. That’s why it’s quite symbolic.
