He planned and led many uprisings. There were at least ten. The Wuchang Uprising in October 1911 finally succeeded. It brought about the revolution he fought for. He was elected provisional president. However, he resigned soon after. Still, he continued to devote himself to the National Revolution.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen died in Peiping on March 12, 1925. He was given a state burial at Nanking in June 1929. His legacy lives on through this Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Monument.
