Harbourfront Centre officially opened in 1974. It became a non-profit in 1991. Its mission is to showcase Toronto’s artistic and cultural soul. More than 4,000 events take place here annually. These events draw 17 million visitors.

In 1972, the Ontario government recognized the need to revitalize the waterfront land. This led to the creation of the Harbourfront Corporation. Its goal was to breathe life into Toronto’s waterfront. The aim was to attract both local and global visitors.

Step inside The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery. Immerse yourself in thought-provoking exhibits. You can attend workshops that ignite your own creative spark.

Visit the Craft & Design Studio. Observe talented artists-in-residence at work. They work with textiles, glass, ceramics, metal, and jewellery.

The Toronto Music Garden offers a unique experience. Music and landscape intertwine. Colourful flowers create a beautiful garden. Free concerts fill the air from June to September. This garden was designed by Yo Yo Ma and Julie Moir Messervy.

From mid-May to late September, the Lakeview Market comes alive. Here you can find handcrafted items from local vendors. A diverse array of international goods also is available.

Harbourfront Centre is accessible. It offers accessible parking, entrances, and washrooms. Everyone is welcome here.

Consider the Harbourfront Centre Theatre. Originally, it was an icehouse in 1926. In 1986, it transformed into a versatile performance venue. It can seat 416 people.

Marvel at the Watermark art piece. It wraps around the Theatre. The artwork features images that document the history of Lake Ontario. The images are embedded into the glass.
