Gazing upon the remnants of the Ex stazione di Torino Dora GTT, can you hear the echoes of the past? This isn’t just a forgotten station. It’s a time capsule, layered with the comings and goings of countless travelers. The Ex stazione di Torino Dora GTT served as the terminal station for the Torino-Ceres railway line. It connected Turin to Venaria Reale, La Mandria, Caselle Airport, and the Lanzo Valleys from 1990 until its closure in 2020. Originally, the line terminated at the historic Torino Porta Milano station. But in 1987, as part of a modernization project, the section between Torino Dora and Torino Porta Milano was abandoned. The new Ex stazione di Torino Dora GTT was built on the connecting curve between the two railways. It opened in 1990. The Ex stazione di Torino Dora GTT boasted three terminal tracks. These tracks handled the influx of trains arriving from the Lanzo Valleys. Sadly, on August 25, 2020, the station was decommissioned. The track section between the Ex stazione di Torino Dora GTT and Madonna di Campagna station was also closed. This coincided with the construction of a bypass route connected to Torino Rebaudengo Fossata Station. Though the physical station is gone, its memory, interwoven with the history of Turin, remains. The Ex stazione di Torino Dora GTT stands as a silent testament to the evolution of the city’s transport network. It whispers tales of journeys begun and ended, of connections forged, and of a time when the rumble of trains filled the air.
