Founded in 1997 this vibrant church initially partnered with Idlewild Baptist Church. It relocated several times before finding its home at 2923 N Tampa St. The early years saw significant growth and development. The church underwent Phase 1 renovations in 1999-2000 expanding its facilities.
In 2001 a remarkable step was taken. The church purchased and renovated the CentraPlex building. This building previously known as the George F Young Building became an integral part of Central Tampa Baptist Church’s ministry. A computer lab was established in 2003 furthering the church’s commitment to education and technology.
Further renovations led to a temporary move to Blake High School in 2006. This wasn’t a setback but rather a testament to the church’s unwavering dedication to its community. The renovated sanctuary was later dedicated in a joyous celebration marking a new chapter in the church’s history.
Central Tampa Baptist Church is much more than a place of worship. It’s a place where families from diverse cultural backgrounds find unity and purpose. It’s a place where people find belonging and support within a community of faith. Sunday services begin at 9:00 am with Bible Fellowship following at 11:00 am. Preschool classes are offered for children ages birth to 4 years during service times.
The church has seen leadership changes over the years. Reverend Dr Jeffery Singletary served before resigning in October 2015. Reverend Lennox Zamore was elected as Senior Pastor in October 2017.
