Waters Avenue Baptist Church

“Did you hear about the church that changed its name to match its neighborhood?” an older gentleman asked, leaning against his cane. “Right here, this was once Forest Hills Baptist Church.” He gestured towards the Waters Avenue Baptist Church with a knowing smile. In the year 2000, under the leadership of Reverend Charles Seal, the church decided to embrace its location. They wanted to better connect with the community they served, so Forest Hills Baptist Church became Waters Avenue Baptist Church. The church boasts a vibrant congregation of around 150 active members. Inside, they gather for Sunday school, spirited worship services, and various programs throughout the week, including a unique senior prayer service and luncheon. The church, always striving to meet the needs of its growing community, even embarked on the exciting project of building a new sanctuary, complete with a magnificent six-story steeple. This ambitious endeavor was a testament to the church’s commitment to creating a welcoming and inspiring space for its congregation and the entire neighborhood.
