Have you ever dreamt of navigating the mighty Congo River? At Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, the Congo River Rapids brings that dream to life. This exhilarating ride, a cornerstone of the Congo section since 1982, recreates the thrills and spills of the lower Congo River, complete with rushing rapids, waterfalls, and geysers. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay opened this ride as Florida’s very first river rapids ride, simulating the lower region of the world’s deepest river. Congo River Rapids isn’t just a water ride; it’s an unpredictable adventure. Every journey is unique. The raft bounces and spins, water splashes from every angle, and the currents carry you on a swirling, ever-changing course. The waterfalls and geysers create a symphony of splashes. The cool mist and the roar of the rapids create an immersive sensory experience. While the ride offers thrills for the adventurous, be aware of the height restriction. Riders must be at least 42 inches tall, and children between 42 and 48 inches require a supervising companion of at least 14 years old. After your wild ride, dry off and explore the other attractions in the Congo section. Ride the Kumba roller coaster with its dizzying loops and drops. Or, take a relaxing journey on the Serengeti Express Train. This train ride offers a scenic tour of the park. It also acts as a mini-safari, giving you glimpses of giraffes, antelopes, and other wildlife. The train even connects to other sections of the park, including Stanleyville, home of the Stanley Falls Flume, another popular water ride. If you’re craving another drenching adventure, hop back on the Serengeti Express and return to the heart of the Congo, ready to brave the rapids once more.
