What is that unique architectural design? The Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center might look like a jumble of shapes at first. But look closer! It’s cleverly designed to resemble “one table, two chairs”. These elements are central to traditional Chinese opera staging. This center isn’t just a pretty facade. It’s a vibrant hub for Taiwanese opera. It officially opened its doors in 2016. Since then it has been home to the GuoGuang Opera Company and the National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan. And if you thought this place was all about tradition, think again! The Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center also houses the Taiwan Music Institute. Here, tradition and innovation collide. The center is spread over a sprawling 1.76 hectares. It offers multiple performance spaces. These include a main theater, an experimental theater, and even a plaza and terrace for open-air events. This makes it a dynamic space for artists to experiment and push the boundaries of traditional performance.
