Did you know that Tacksägelsekyrkan means Thanksgiving Church? It is a fitting name for this place of worship. Here at Tacksägelsekyrkan in Trångsund we find a blend of architectural vision and spiritual solace.

Tacksägelsekyrkan is also called Trångsunds Church sometimes. It stands as a testament to the growth of Trångsund. The church was designed by architect Sture Frölén. It was inaugurated in 1957. This coincided with Trångsund’s development into a town.

In 1974 Tacksägelsekyrkan became the parish church for the newly formed Trångsund parish. This parish was separated from Huddinge parish. Before Mariakyrkan in Skogås was inaugurated in 1987 Tacksägelsekyrkan served as the main parish church. After 1987 Mariakyrkan took over this role.

Tacksägelsekyrkan is located in a wooded area. It is situated along the old Nynäsvägen. The church is west of Trångsund’s center. It is near the station on the Nynäs railway line.

The church is small. It can seat about one hundred people. The entire western long side wall facing the forest is glazed. This brings the beauty of nature inside. The church bells hang in a wooden bell tower. This adds to the church’s charm.

Inside Tacksägelsekyrkan three beautiful stained glass windows catch the eye. These were created in 1960 by the artist Ebba Wadsten. The organ was installed in the same year.

The first organ was built in 1958. Grönlunds Orgelbyggeri AB from Gammelstad built it. This organ had 5 stops and was mechanical. In 1961 this organ was moved to Segeltorps Church. The current organ was built in 1961. Again Grönlunds Orgelbyggeri AB built it. It is also a mechanical organ.

Tacksägelsekyrkan also has a memorial grove. There is also a small cemetery located here. These offer a quiet place for reflection. As we leave Tacksägelsekyrkan remember its history. It reflects the community’s growth and faith. It is a place where art music and nature come together.
