The Traditional Medical University, established in 2001, isn’t just a building of knowledge, it’s a bridge between the ancient wisdom of Burmese medicine and the needs of the modern world. The Ministry of Health oversees this vital institution, recognizing the importance of traditional healing practices. Each year, the university welcomes around 100 students who undergo a rigorous five-year program. Their journey culminates in a Bachelor of Myanmar Traditional Medicine degree. But the Traditional Medical University is more than just textbooks and exams. Within its walls, students delve into the fascinating world of Burmese traditional medicine, exploring its various systems like Desana, Bhesijja, Nakhatta, and Vijjadhara. The curriculum is a blend of the old and the new. Students explore ancient practices alongside modern science. They learn to identify medicinal plants and master techniques like acupuncture, all while building a solid foundation in Western medicine.
