Sun-kissed sand meets the turquoise water at Hung Shing Yeh Beach. This isn’t just any beach. It is the most popular beach on Lamma Island in Hong Kong.

Hung Shing Yeh Beach has a story to tell. Let’s step back in time to March 11, 1979. The freighter Skyluck arrived. About 100 Vietnamese refugees jumped ship. They swam towards Lamma Island. Half were caught at sea. The other half landed mainly at Hung Shing Yeh Beach. Sadly, they were all captured by the police.

In 1997 and 1998, the Regional Council built new facilities here. These included changing rooms and toilets. There was also a first aid room and a staff office. A lifeguard lookout was added. Even waste treatment facilities were included.

Hung Shing Yeh Beach offers more than just sand and sea. You can reach Hung Shing Yeh Beach after walking for about 30 minutes from the Yung Shue Wan Ferry Pier.

Imagine relaxing on the beach. You can enjoy the BBQ pits. There are nine of them. Feel the sand between your toes. Take a dip in the refreshing water. Showers are available to rinse off the salt.

The beach is protected by a shark net. You can swim without worry. Look out to the sea. You will notice the Lamma Power Station in the distance. It is quite a sight.

Lamma Island offers a different pace of life. There are no cars here. Apartments are limited to 700 square feet per floor. Many Hong Kong residents visit on weekends. The town gets crowded when the ferry arrives.

To continue your adventure, consider a walk from Yung Shue Wan to Sok Kwu Wan. The walk takes about 60 to 90 minutes. You will pass Hung Shing Yeh Beach. The trail offers great views. After your walk, enjoy fresh seafood.

Hung Shing Yeh Beach is more than just a destination. It’s a place to relax and reflect. It is a place to enjoy the simple pleasures of island life. Come. Discover the charm of Hung Shing Yeh Beach.
