Did you know there’s a church in Hong Kong where typhoon warnings dictate the service schedule? Right here, at the North Point Alliance Church (NPAC), the faithful gather, even amidst the storms. North Point Alliance Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to resilience, a beacon in the heart of North Point. The English worship service, a vibrant part of NPAC, actually began as a youth service back in October 2000. Interestingly, the youth fellowship, known as Gatekeepers, predates the service, having started in 1995. Although initially youth-focused, it soon attracted young adults and parents, becoming a multi-generational service by 2004. Today, North Point Alliance Church has blossomed into a diverse community, catering to various life stages, from youth to mature members. They have adult, children, and youth Sunday School classes and fellowship groups. NPAC is dedicated to serving God, nurturing family relationships, spreading the Gospel both locally and internationally, and fostering discipleship. They strive to be a worshipping, growing, serving, loving, and missionary community. Imagine a Sunday morning where Typhoon Signal No. 8 is looming. At North Point Alliance Church, dedicated members still gather for Sunday School and the English Worship Service. However, afternoon activities are promptly cancelled, prioritizing everyone’s safety. Even during extreme weather, the spirit of worship continues. Online services via Zoom ensure that the community stays connected, even when physically apart. The church even encourages members to worship together online, using service recordings at their usual time. This dedication underscores NPAC’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and shared faith, regardless of circumstances. North Point Alliance Church stands as a symbol of community, adapting and thriving in the face of challenges, always keeping its doors open, whether physically or virtually.
