Picture this a vibrant community nestled in Hong Kong’s Kam Tin. This is YWAM Harbour City. It’s a place where faith meets action. A place of worship a training ground a hub for missions.
YWAM Harbour City isn’t just a building. It’s a story woven through decades. It started in 1979. An outreach team from YWAM Honolulu arrived. They worked with Vietnamese refugees. This refugee work became the foundation of YWAM’s presence in Hong Kong. The organization grew rapidly. The government even gave them a building in the Mid-Levels. They established the Mother’s Choice orphanage and a Christian kindergarten. Numerous ministries and training programs blossomed from this base.
But change came. In 1990 the refugee camps closed. The government reclaimed the building. YWAM Hong Kong moved to Kam Tin. This is where you stand today. It’s one of Hong Kong’s oldest villages. FEET teams SOFM and DTS became the core ministries for years.
Then in 2011 YWAM Tuen Mun opened. It focuses on arts and mercy ministries. Today YWAM Hong Kong has four locations. Many more ministries spread throughout the city. They share God’s love and message. They reach people across Hong Kong and beyond. YWAM Harbour City plays a key role in this vast network. It’s a community of worshippers reaching the lost welcoming teams and individuals. They serve the body of Christ furthering its mission. They are passionate about expanding God’s Kingdom in Asia. This happens through mercy ministries training and evangelism.
The DTS program is a significant part of YWAM Harbour City’s work. It’s a six-month discipleship training school. It includes a lecture phase and an outreach phase. The outreach takes students across the globe sharing the Gospel and demonstrating God’s love. Often a portion of that outreach happens right here in Hong Kong.
YWAM Harbour City speaks English and Cantonese. It’s a testament to Hong Kong’s multicultural nature. A testament to YWAM’s global mission. It’s a community dedicated to making a difference. A difference built on faith service and love. A difference you can be a part of.
