Justice echoes in these halls. The Okresní soud v Kladně, once a grand testament to financial security, now stands as a pillar of the Czech legal system. Yes, right here before you is no ordinary courthouse. The Okresní soud v Kladně resides within a building steeped in history. Constructed between 1923 and 1924, this structure originally served as the Miners’ Brotherhood Treasury. Designed by architect Alois Dryák, its decorative style with a striking central risalit and intricate sgraffito decoration speaks to a different era. In a twist of fate, this building, meant to safeguard financial well-being, was repurposed during the occupation. It became the seat of the Oberlandrat, housing various departments of the district national committee. Even after the war, the building continued to serve the changing political landscape, housing the secretariat of the KSČ District Committee after 1960. Only in 1987 did the Okresní soud v Kladně find its home here. Today, the court stands as a symbol of resilience. It reminds us that even amidst changing tides, the pursuit of justice finds a way.
