Journey with me to the serene shores of Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park. Here, nestled within the Sai Kung West Country Park, stands the Hoi Ha Management Centre. This isn’t just any building. It’s a portal to an underwater world, a testament to Hong Kong’s commitment to marine conservation. Hoi Ha Wan itself became a marine park in 1996. It was one of Hong Kong’s first, established to protect its vibrant coral communities and diverse marine life. The Hoi Ha Management Centre, also known as the Hoi Ha Visitor Centre, opened in mid-2021. It enhances the visitor experience. This center acts as a hub for information about the marine park’s functions and management. It also helps raise public awareness about marine conservation and promotes the other attractions in and around Hoi Ha. Inside the Hoi Ha Management Centre, you can explore interactive exhibits like “Into the Sea.” Using VR technology, you can dive into the virtual underwater world of Hong Kong’s marine parks. Another exhibit, “Hoi Ha Coastal Safari,” uses AR technology. This lets you experience the rich biodiversity of Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park without even getting wet. The exhibition hall provides detailed information on marine park management, conservation measures, marine ecology, and even the history of Hoi Ha itself. You’ll also learn about the threats facing our oceans. The Centre is more than just an educational space. It’s also an example of sustainable architecture. It features solar panels, a rainwater collection system, and a bio-treatment plant. These green features minimize the center’s environmental impact. The Hoi Ha Management Centre embodies a harmonious balance between humans and nature. It invites you to explore, learn, and appreciate the wonders of Hong Kong’s marine ecosystems.
