Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School opened on September 4 1956. The school welcomed children from the local parish. There was an effort to build the school near the church. Instead it was built in its current northerly location.
Back in 1951 the church wanted a separate school in Forest Hills. The Forest Hills Separate School Board was bound to an agreement then. This agreement was with the Toronto and Suburban Separate Board. It lasted until 1953.
When it first opened Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School had three teachers. It also had 162 students. Lay people taught the students initially. One of the three teachers was a parishioner.
The Ministry of Education made an important announcement in 2015. It would provide $11.9 million for a new school. This school would accommodate 599 students. It would replace the existing one on Highway 20. The location is east of Upper Centennial Parkway.
Kingsland + Architects Inc completed an addition. The completion date is unknown.
