Mother of God School is a private Catholic school in Gaithersburg Maryland. It serves students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Established in 1987 the school is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. It also maintains close ties with the Mother of God Community. This community of laypeople emphasizes living as intentional disciples of Christ. The Mother of God Community bought land on Goshen Road to construct the school. The school tries to promote a Catholic and Christ-life awareness.

The campus includes a three-story brick building. It connects to Goshen House which features a chapel. In 1994 a gym and more classrooms were added. The gym is a versatile space. It serves as a sports facility cafeteria and theater. It also hosts school plays conferences meetings Masses and prayer services. A statue of the Virgin Mary graces the central courtyard. It becomes the focus of the school’s annual May Crowning.

Mother of God School gained accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in 1999. Currently the school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Mother of God School maintains high academic standards. Graduates attend prestigious magnet programs and private high schools. Many receive scholarships for academics art or music.

The school provides many clubs and activities. These include Boy Scouts Robotics Club and Mathcounts. The Mathcounts club often achieves high rankings. The school also has a drama club. It puts on annual productions. A concert band and string ensemble perform twice a year. The school’s music teachers belong to the Washington Archdiocesan Music Teachers Council.

The athletic programs feature CYO basketball. Cross country track and soccer teams were recently added.

Mother of God School is known for its traditions. The Race for Education involves students gathering sponsors for running events. GlobalFest is a multicultural event with ethnic foods student performances and a silent auction.

GlobalFest attracts many people from around the county. The kindergarten through eighth grades are assigned regions. Classes create posters and art and practice traditional performances. Parents contribute food and music. The event includes a silent auction for attendees.
