What secrets does Mount Cameron hold, tucked away in Aberdeen Country Park? Mount Cameron rises 439 meters above Hong Kong, a peak possibly named for Major General William Gordon Cameron, a former Administrator of Hong Kong. The path to Mount Cameron’s summit is an extension of Hong Kong Trail Section 4. From the peak, the views are stunning. Look north to see the Happy Valley and the iconic city harbour skyline. Turn south, and there’s Wong Chuk Hang spread out before you, with a glimpse of Lamma Island in the distance. Mount Cameron holds a hidden piece of history, a story not often told. During the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, a memorial for fallen Japanese soldiers was built on a nearby hill, northwest of Mount Cameron. Interestingly, this site is sometimes also referred to as “Mount Cameron,” creating a bit of a historical and geographical puzzle.
