Picture yourself standing here, right in front of the Tyresö kommun sign. This is a small municipality nestled on the coast of the Baltic Sea. In history, Tyresö was bustling with life. In the 17th century, the Tyresö estate was at its peak, covering most of the present municipality land. It was a hub of industry, fueled by watermills along the streams between lakes. These watermills were crucial for a variety of industries: sawmills, gristmills, and even rolling mills. The municipal arms feature three waterwheels representing the power plants at Nyfors, Uddby, and Follbrinksströmmen. Today, the only watermill still standing is a hydroelectric power plant at Uddby, built in 1895 after the original mill burned down. It is the only such plant in all of the Stockholm area.
