Adachi Ward Ritsu Tatehi Elementary School first opened its doors in April 1982. At that time, there were 25 staff members. There were also 11 school service staff members ready to welcome the first students. Imagine the excitement as 435 students came in for the opening ceremony. Many students came from nearby schools. 201 transferred from Shikahama Daiichi Elementary School. Another 225 came from Kita Shikahama Elementary School. And 27 students joined from other places.
Before the school was built, the land was purchased in March 1979. The land acquisition was facilitated by Mr. Masakazu Arai. He was the director of the Kitajujo Northern Land Improvement Association. The school grounds cover 12,773.56 square meters. The purchase price was 1,569,167,000 yen. Construction began in March 1981.
Mr. Yasutaka Hamada became the first principal in February 1982. In May 1982, a special class for students with emotional difficulties was established. This class had five students. In November 1985, the school celebrated its opening anniversary. Mr. Makoto Kishimoto became the second principal in April 1986. Mr. Iwao Momozono became the third principal in April 1988.
The school continued to evolve. In April 1990, the special class for emotional difficulties was closed. Mr. Haruaki Takada became the fourth principal in April 1992. In October 1993, the school celebrated its 10th anniversary. Mr. Yutaka Shimizu became the fifth principal in April 1996. Mr. Koichi Sato became the sixth principal in April 1999. In October 2002, the school marked its 20th anniversary. Mr. Tokiichi Yokoyama became the seventh principal in April 2003.
In October 2008, Adachi Ward Board of Education recognized the school for its research. In February 2008, it received an award for promoting health from Tokyo. In April 2009, Mr. Yasutsugu Saeki became the eighth principal. In November 2009, the school was designated for a joint research project. It focused on fostering cooperation skills.
In November 2011, Adachi Ward Board of Education recognized it again for research. It was also recognized as a Tokyo Metropolitan Sports Education Promotion School. In April 2011, Mr. Kazuhisa Doigaki became the ninth principal. In October 2012, the school celebrated its 30th anniversary. Mr. Hideharu Kashiwara became the tenth principal in April 2018. Mr. Masahiro Kato became the eleventh principal in April 2021. In November 2021, the school commemorated its 40th anniversary.
