Now, imagine this prominent building, a testament to over a century of learning and growth. Humberside Collegiate Institute, originally Toronto Junction High School, stands proudly on Quebec Avenue. It has witnessed generations of students walk its halls, from the bustling Bloor West Village to the serene Baby Point. Humberside Collegiate Institute opened its doors in 1892, nurturing young minds from grades 9 through 12. The school offers a rich academic program, boasting a robust music program, Extended French, and even French Immersion. Humberside Collegiate Institute transitioned to a semestered schedule after the COVID-19 pandemic. Before that, students experienced a full-year, non-semestered schedule. Look closely at the front entrance. This isn’t just a doorway, it’s a memorial. It commemorates the students lost during World War I and later, World War II. For years, this entrance was closed off, a silent tribute to their sacrifice. Now, it serves as a poignant reminder of the impact of history, even within these hallowed halls.
