Slipping through time, imagine Stuttgart in January 2023. A unique art event unfolds within the unexpected canvas of Stuttgart 21’s shell halls. This is Schüssel, not the physical bowl, but an artistic experience. Schüssel, part of “Solid Transitions,” transformed this construction zone. Fourteen artists, some international, answered the call of Erik Sturm and Carolin Wurzbacher. They filled the tunnels with light, sound, and video. Schüssel became a stage for singing, painting, and dance. Imagine walking the 500-meter art trail. The Schüssel experience wasn’t about a single artwork. It was about the interplay of art and architecture within these vast, unfinished halls. Schüssel offered a multi-layered experience, where diverse contributions merged into a captivating whole. Approximately 400 visitors journeyed through this temporary subterranean world. They witnessed art breathing life into the raw concrete of Stuttgart 21. The Schüssel land art within “Solid Transitions” offered a glimpse into the transformative power of art. It showcased how even spaces under construction could become venues for creative expression.
