Dedicated to the men and women of the First Fleet. That’s what Ku-ring-gai Bicentennial Park is all about. This park commemorates the bicentenary of the European settlement of Australia. It is a tribute to those who arrived in 1788.
Ku-ring-gai Bicentennial Park is one of Ku-ring-gai’s largest sports and recreation facilities. It hosts many community events and festivals. The Bicentenary marked the 200th anniversary. It was of the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney in 1788. Captain Arthur Phillip established a British colony at Sydney Cove. This happened on January 26, 1788.
The park features a sculpture of the ship H. M. S. Sirius. Victor Cusack created this sculpture. The park was dedicated around 1988.
Ku-ring-gai Bicentennial Park provides two sportsgrounds. These are Lofberg Oval and Norman Griffiths Oval. You’ll find three cricket nets here. There is also a synthetic wicket and a soccer/rugby field. Four netball courts are available. Fitness equipment is provided. There is even a dog off-leash area.
It is the perfect spot for a family picnic. Barbecue facilities are available. You can enjoy walking or cycling tracks. A fenced playground keeps the kids entertained.
The park’s plaque reads: “This park is dedicated to the men and women of the First Fleet who arrived from England in January 1788 and founded this our beloved country.” The park stands as a lasting reminder of this pivotal moment in history.

Group bookings can be made for up to 50 people at Bicentennial Park – Golden Grove. Bookings are available for the grass lawn and stage area only. The picnic shelters and barbecues are for shared community use. They are not included in the booking area.
Bicentennial Park – Golden Grove is available Monday to Sunday from 8am to 6pm. It costs 45 dollars per hour for up to 25 people. For 26 to 50 people, it costs 51 dollars per hour. The minimum hire period is 2 hours.
