The campsite is nestled amidst lush vegetation and trees. Shap Long Campsite provides a peaceful retreat. It’s far from roads and the noise of traffic. This small campsite, with its fewer than 20 tent spaces, offers a quiet wilderness experience. You can enjoy the simple pleasures of camping. Facilities include barbeque pits, benches, drains, and clotheslines. A dry toilet pit is available. Water can be found from a nearby stream, but its availability is seasonal. Shap Long Campsite is easily accessible, making it perfect for beginners. The surrounding area is steeped in history and culture. Nearby, the village of Pui O, composed of four smaller villages, holds remnants of the past. Pui O Lo Wai Tsuen, one of these villages, dates back to the early Qing Dynasty. After pirate raids, villagers fortified their settlement with walls and gates. Legend has it that peace returned to the area after the completion of Lo Wai Tsuen. From Shap Long Campsite, you can explore the Lantau Trail Stage 12 and the Chi Ma Wan Country Trail. These trails offer stunning views and opportunities for hiking.
