This small, almost unassuming islet emerged from the river after the devastating floods of 2002. The floods, known for their destructive power, also had a creative side. They deposited gravel and sediment in this particular spot. This resulted in the birth of Ptačí ostrov. The island is still young. But it is already a haven for several bird species, hence its name which means “Bird Island”. You might spot some of these feathered inhabitants as you admire Ptačí ostrov.
