“Pioneer community” might sound like a stretch for a neighborhood inside the Beltway. But that is exactly what one resident called Hunting Hill. Today we will explore Hunting Hill. It is a place with a unique history.

Hunting Hill wasn’t always townhouses and condos. It started as a small rural community. This community sat along Darnestown Road. It was between Travilah and Muddy Branch Roads. Imagine a simpler time. Hunting Hill had a blacksmith shop. It also had two general stores. A schoolhouse educated the local children.

At the heart of Hunting Hill stood Hunting Hill Methodist Episcopal Church. The church was built in 1902. It became a focal point for the community. Around fifty members filled its pews. Families like the Schwartzbecks Crowns and Wards found fellowship here.

For decades Hunting Hill Church served its members. Then change came. In 1965 Hunting Hill and McDonald Chapel Church merged. A few years later they joined with Pleasant View Church. This union formed Fairhaven United Methodist Church in Darnestown.

Many remember Hunting Hill Church fondly. One woman recalled her grandmother working for the church. Her mother taught Sunday School. A man shared memories of shining his shoes on Sunday mornings. He loved special holiday services. Christmas was especially cherished. Teen dances filled Saturday nights with laughter.

Hunting Hill also has some amazing residential architecture. You can find Tudor homes. French Eclectic designs add flair. Spanish Mission Revival styles evoke warmth. Colonial Revival homes exude classic charm. Cape Cod Colonials offer cozy comfort. Many homes blend different styles. This creates unique and interesting aesthetics.

Hunting Hill offers modern comfort and affordability now. The apartments are near Pen Lucy Road and North Beechfield Avenue. They provide easy access to Baltimore’s attractions. You can find convenient shopping dining and entertainment.

Hunting Hill is a vibrant community. It has lush green spaces. Spacious one two and three-bedroom homes offer comfortable living. The apartments have modern kitchens and ample storage.

Huntington is known for two-story brick duplexes. These were built in the 1940s. They housed veterans returning from World War II. Some retain original features like pine floors. Others have been updated with vinyl siding. Some have well-maintained yards and renovated kitchens.

Huntington offers some of the biggest homes for the least money. This is especially true within walking distance of the Metro. Residents appreciate the large yards. They also like the neighborhood vibe.

So while Hunting Hill may have evolved. Its history remains. From its rural beginnings to its modern apartments. Hunting Hill continues to be a unique place.
