Ten thousand worshippers. Can you imagine? That’s the capacity of the Temple of Solomon here in São Paulo. This magnificent structure isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to faith ambition and sheer scale.

The Temple of Solomon a near-exact replica of its ancient Jerusalem counterpart stands as a symbol of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. Bishop Edir Macedo envisioned a structure that would dwarf even Rio’s Christ the Redeemer statue. He succeeded. This isn’t your typical church.

The Temple of Solomon is more than twice the height of Christ the Redeemer. It’s a colossal 55 meters tall an 18-story building. Its dimensions far exceed the original Temple described in the Bible. The construction was massive. It took four years and approximately $300 million. They even imported eight million dollars worth of Jerusalem stone. Those stones now adorn the central pillars the entrance and the center aisle.

Inside you’ll find more than just a sanctuary. There are 36 rooms for children’s Bible school. There are radio and television studios. A museum details the original temple’s history. Eighty-four apartments house bishops and pastors. The entire complex spans a city block. Twenty-four properties had to be acquired to make room for this monumental structure.

Even the details are impressive. The pews were imported from Spain. The ceiling shimmers with 10,000 LED light bulbs creating stunning star patterns. Menorahs adorn the walls a clear nod to the temple’s Jewish origins. And then there’s the altar. A breathtaking replica of the Ark of the Covenant is covered in gold leaf. Above it 100 square meters of gold-stained glass windows bathe the space in golden light. An inscription proclaiming “Holiness to the Lord” reinforces the sacred atmosphere. A conveyor belt system quietly whisks tithes and offerings to a secure room.

The Temple of Solomon wasn’t without controversy. Some in Brazil’s Jewish community expressed mixed feelings. They appreciated the respect shown to Jewish culture and history. They questioned the temple’s immense size and the church’s aggressive marketing. Yet the building stands as a powerful symbol of faith its impact undeniable. President Dilma Rousseff even attended the inauguration in 2014. A testament to its influence. More recently President Jair Bolsonaro visited to strengthen ties with the UCKG in 2019.

The Temple of Solomon isn’t just a religious building. It’s a landmark a symbol and a stunning display of architectural ambition. It’s a true testament to faith in São Paulo. A breathtaking sight to behold.
